A Mobil filling station near Airport Hotel, Ikeja, on Obafemi Awolowo Way, Lagos State, was, on Thursday, gutted by fire.
Naija News understands that the incident occurred around 11 a.m. on Thursday during a busy period of Petroleum Motor Spirit (PMS) sales.
It was gathered that more than two vehicles were consumed by the ensuing fire.
Security operatives have arrived at the scene to divert both humans and vehicles away from the axis.
The fire service operatives have also arrived at the scene.
Nigerian Catholic priest, Rev Fr Chinenye Oluoma, has warned that people who neglect technology in search of miracles will end up doing crusades all their lives while those with technology will be cruising in luxury and abundance.
Oluoma said God remains the ultimate and first technologist, adding that every technology human beings made is either an imitation of the one God did in nature or a product of the intelligence God bequeathed on them.
The cleric gave the admonition in a post titled, ‘God and Technology’ on his Facebook page on Thursday.
The post reads, “God remains the ultimate and first TECHNOLOGIST. Every technology human beings made is either an imitation of the one God did in nature or product of the intelligence God bequeathed on them.
“Airplanes are technological imitations, and perhaps improvements of birds of the air. The helicopter was precisely modelled after the dragon fly, that’s why it can take off vertically. Ships, submarines and other marine technologies came from aquatic animals.
“I think there’s a technology that can translate one language into another. Let’s assume there’s a global conference in Nigeria and people from French, German, Italian, Arabic, Greek, Chinese, Russian etc speaking delegates come. As the speaker is speaking in English, the other delegates will be hearing their own languages through the technology. This technology is still improving.
“Do you know this is similar to, if not exactly what happened on the Pentecost day in Acts 2:5-6. As the Apostles spoke, the people from different places understood them in their respective dialects, i call it ‘Holy Ghost translation technology.
“When human beings can replicate through technology what God did or can do supernaturally, God apparently expects them to take the responsibility.
“The Israelites who were defended supernaturally by pillar of cloud and fire now depends on the iron dome and other military technologies for that. To cross the Red Sea today, they use Ships, boats or planes. God doesn’t part the sea for them anymore.
“What about manna? Josh 5:12 says it stopped falling once they ate the produce of the land and started cultivating the soil. From then till now, agricultural technology has given them more than manna and they are thriving.
“A people who neglect technology in search of miracles will end up doing crusades all their lives while those with technology will be cruising in luxury and abundance.
“The “prophets” God is using to solve people’s material problems do not gather them for crusades and marathon prayers, they use technology and intelligence to produce solutions.
“Today’s Israel doesn’t need Moses against Pharaoh, they have the Netanyahus doing that divine assignment with intelligence and technology.
“Your “prophets” here who claim to do same for you only gather you for miracle crusades and collect your money to go and enjoy in Israel. When you have sense, Faith makes sense. If you like interpret this to mean that Fada Oluoma doesn’t believe in miracles, na you sabi.”
A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Joe Igbokwe has faulted the party over its attitude towards former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai.
Igbokwe lamented that APC just ignored El-Rufai without thinking of how the party got to its current level.
Posting on his Facebook page, Igbokwe described the former governor as a fearless leader, key player and organizer.
Igbokwe said: “I do not know why the leadership of APC Nigeria thinks that a scholar with huge brain, a bold thinker, a fearless leader, a facilitator, a key player, a team player, organizer like Mallam El-Rufai can just be ignored as if we do not know how we got here.”
El-Rufai, a founding father of the APC, has been sidelined since President Bola Tinubu assumed office.
Tinubu had nominated El-Rufai for a ministerial role but the Senate failed to clear him.
El-Rufai’s successor, Governor Sani Uba’s administration had instituted a probe against him over alleged misappropriation of funds while in office.
United States-based Nigerian dancer, Korra Obidi has secured a permanent restraining order against her estranged husband, Justin Dean.
Nancy, Korra’s sister, who shared the update in an Instagram post on Wednesday, revealed that the order was granted after a long legal battle.
DAILY POST reports that Obidi and Dean’s marriage crashed in 2022, over allegation of infidelity.
Also, Korra and ex-hubby Justin Dean, in a court document dated 19th January 2022, were banned from sharing photos and videos of their children, June and Athena Dean, on the internet.
In June 2023, Korra cried out on social media over anonymous people reporting her to Child Protective Services, CPS, accusing her of abusing her children.
Nancy, in the Instagram post, detailed allegations of harassment, exploitation and defamation by Justin and an associate, who allegedly shared intimate content of their children.

Bismarck Rewane, an economist and the Executive Director of Financial Derivatives, has said the prices of tomatoes and pepper dropped to N60,000 per basket amid the hunger protests.
Rewane, who is also a member of the Presidential Economic Coordination Council, disclosed this on Thursday in an interview with Channels Television.
According to him, the drop represents a significant price reduction when compared to the N130,000 to N150,000 a basket of tomatoes and pepper sold two to three weeks ago.
He, however, noted that the food items were sold out at perishable value.
According to him, the prices of tomatoes and pepper may increase again as business activities return to normalcy in Nigerian markets post-protests.
“Our team went into the market Yesterday(Wednesday), percent drop in the price of tomatoes to down to N60,000 per basket, the price was bold two to three weeks ago.
“Pepper has come down to N60,000 by 57 percent. I think that these are perishable goods. Because of the protests and the restrictions on movement, the goods that are on the farm are not getting to market and the ones in the market are being sold off.
“What I think will happen is that in the next few days, the price of tomatoes and peppers will increase again. Right now it is the perishable value that will be seen in the market,” he said.
Recall that in the past week, protesters had taken to the streets in major Nigerian cities, demonstrating against the rising cost of living in the country.
Commercial sex workers in Kano have appealed to organisers of the nationwide hunger protests to engage the Federal Government in dialogue.
They told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday that the protests had crippled social-economic activities, leaving them without customers and struggling to survive.
Monica James, who operates on France Road, said that dialogue was the only option to address the grievances of the protesters.
“I have not eaten for two days because of the curfew; our customers are nowhere to be found,” she said.
She urged the organisers to shelve their protests and negotiate with the government to end the demonstrations.
Deborah Iliya, a sex worker on Yoruba Road, who echoed James’ sentiments, described the situation as horrible, as she has not been able to find customers.
Hannatu Ibrahim, of Weather Head Area, also called for an end to the protests, joining the growing calls for a return of normalcy.
Caroline James, a sex worker operating from a brothel on Enugu street in Sabon Gari, said that the infiltration of hoodlums and subsequent violence “spoilt our business.”
She said that she had booked clients who were willing to pay between N30, 000 and N40,000, but they were unable to keep their appointments due to the tension and curfew.
A sex worker, who preferred to remain anonymous, said that some of her colleagues were forced to share rooms due to the lack of customers during the protest.
She appealed to the authorities to relax the curfew, stating that it had severely impacted their ability to conduct business.
Moses John, a bar attendant, told NAN that the curfew had severely impacted business activities in Sabon Gari, with hotels and bars hardly selling due to the absence of customers.
Kenneth John, a dealer in Esi Ewu ( goat head) on Aitken Road, told NAN that the curfew had negatively impacted business activities in Sabon Gari, lamenting that he had lost several heads of goats due to lack of power supply.
'I Laced His Food With Rat Poison' - Man Narrates How He Killed His 65-Year-Old Father In Minna

Mizanmil Abubakar, a 29-year-old man, told the startling story of how he killed his father, Abubakar Adawa, a 65-year-old, at Barkin-Sale area of Minna, Niger State.
The suspect brutally murdered his father, Abubakar Adawa, chopped the body into pieces with a hoe and buried the remains in a shallow grave in their compound.
The State Commissioner of Police, CP Shawulu Ebenezer Danmamman, paraded the suspect at the police headquarters, Dutsen-Kura Minna on Wednesday, August 7, 2024.
According to the CP, the suspect confessed that he served his father food laced with rat poison before hacking him to d£ath, claiming that the deceased had much hatred for him.
“On 30/7/2024 at about 1000hrs, an information was received at Kpakungu Division that on 29/7/2024 at about 2100hrs, one Abubakar Adawa aged 65yrs was missing from his house at Barkin-Sale area of Minna,” the statement read.
"Immediately this information was received, Police operatives attached to the Division led by the DPO visited the house, while one Mizanmil Abubakar aged 29yrs and Aisha Abubakar, the mother and the son were invited for interrogation.
"However, the whole compound was thoroughly searched, and surprisingly the severed body of the missing person was discovered buried in parts in a shallow grave within the compound. During interrogation, the said Mizanmil (son) confessed to being responsible for the gruesome act.
"He further confessed that his mother went out and instructed him to prepare food for the family pending her return; he said he served the meal of his father and laced it with rodenticide (rat poison), which the father ate and became unconscious and lifeless.
"Immediately he discovered this, he took a hoe and knife to sever the victim's body, packed in different sacks and buried in a shallow grave within the compound.
"He asserted that he perpetrated this act before return of the mother, and that his reason for the gruesome act was that the deceased had much hatred for him.
“The suspect has been transferred to SCID for further investigation and will be charge to court for prosecution as soon as the investigation is concluded.”
Street beggars in Kano have called on the organizers of the ongoing nationwide protests to pause their activities in the interest of humanity.
Baba Haliru, a 70- year-old beggar from Rigiyar Zaki, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that survival has become extremely challenging due to the protests.
Haliru explained that many beggars relied on daily earnings to feed their families, but the protests have prevented them from doing so.
He lamented, “We have not eaten anything in our household of 14 for two days in the last four days except water.
”For God’s sake, please reach out to those who organised the protests to end them by negotiating with the government.”
Other beggars re-echoed Haliru’s sentiments, calling for an end to the protests and the total lifting of the curfew.
Malama Mario Kabiru of Hotoro quarters said: “We have run out of foodstuffs and we can’t go out to buy more. We don’t have money, and the situation is unbearable.”
Malam Isa Musa of Dorayi quarters also appealed to the government to introduce measures that would cater for the needs of elderly individuals who have no support.
He urged, “We are begging because we have no one to support us. Since the curfew was introduced, we have not eaten anything in the last three days with our families.
”We can’t continue like this; kindly let the protests stop.”
The Commissioner of Police, Niger State Police Command, CP Shawulu Ebenezer Danmamman has recovered 15 pump action rifles from suspected gunrunners and arms dealers in the state.
The Commissioner made the disclosure on Wednesday during a press briefing and the parade of some 23 suspected criminals at the State Police Command headquarters.
According to him, on 4th August, 2024, at about 1900hrs based on intelligence received, Police patrol team of Anti-Kidnapping Unit attached to SCID Minna, while on routine patrol along Maikunkele-Tegina Road, Minna, intercepted a Toyota Corolla vehicle, red in colour, with Reg. No. DKA 877 HJ.
He added, “The vehicle was intercepted with three occupants, including the driver, and in the course of interrogation, surprisingly on the guise to ease themselves, the occupants took to their heels and upon the search of the vehicle, fifteen (15) automatic pump action rifles were found with thirty (30) cartridges concealed in a sack in the vehicle.”
The Commissioner explained that concerted effort was ongoing through the investigative process to track the owner of the said vehicle and arrest the fleeing culprits towards unraveling the source and purpose of the pump action rifles.
Danmamman added that if the fleeing suspects were found and arrested in conjunction with the owner of the vehicle, the culprits would be arraigned in court and charged for prosecution.
According to him, the case was still under investigation in the State Criminals Investigations Department (SCID) Minna.
On Wednesday, August 8, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II, the 16th Emir of Kano, lamented the destruction and looting of properties during the hunger protest in the state.
Sanusi spoke when he inspected the Kano Printing Press, NCC Digital Industrial Park and Barakat Stores which were among public and private properties attacked during the incident.
He accused the security of allowing the destruction to happen despite the notice sent beforehand.
He said his grandfather worked with the Kano printing press adding that “it is sad that a place like this is destroyed by their grandchildren”.
According to him, “As we used to say, whoever had a hand in this is an enemy of Kano and he is an enemy to its people.
“My grandfather had worked here (Kano printing press). It is sad that a place like this is destroyed by their grandchildren.
“Before this happened, the security operatives were notified in writing that it is going to happen but instead of preventing it, it was allowed to happen”, he noted.
“We pray that God comes to the aid of these youth and whoever is behind it God will deal with them. We pray that we may not witness anything like this in the future”.
The Kano printing press was established in 1938 and has been serving the state since then.

The founder and head prophet of Christ Mercyland Deliverance Ministry (CMDM) Pastor Jeremiah Fufeyin has sued controversial critic, Verydarkman for N1Billon.
The clergyman accused Verydarkman of defaming him.
Recall that Verydarkman had threatened to report the clergyman to the National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Drugs (NAFDAC) office for selling miracle soap and water to his church members.
This didn't go down well with the clergyman who slammed him with the lawsuit of N1 billion and restraining order for calling him out for selling miracle soap and water.
The lawsuit charges was shared by Verydarkman himself via his Instagram page. He shared a video of himself addressing the cleric’s lawsuit.
In his words, “I am coming to the Court with 800 Deaf People, 700 Blind People, and 36 women who are looking for the fruit of the womb, you must use your healing water and soap to heal all of them in front of the Judge."

Afrobeats star Divine Ikubor aka Rema has revealed why he started smoking.
This is as he spoke about how the death of his dad affected his childhood.
Speaking in a recent interview, the ‘Calm Down’ crooner said the death of his father left him the responsibility of catering for his family at a young age and in the process, he was “forced to sell” his childhood.
In a candid chat with GRM, Rema, 24, said he wants to “feel young again.”
He said he recently started smoking cigarettes in a bid to feel “free and break some rules again.”
Rema lamented that despite being an adult before deciding to smoke, people still criticise his decision because he’s a celebrity.
He said, “I really wanted to feel like a child again… I feel like I grew up too fast. Life switched up on me crazy when I lost my dad and my brother. The weight was just on my shoulder and forced me to sell my childhood to provide for my family.
“God willing, everything happened well, it happened fast. And with fast fame, comes fast maturity. It’s just like never ending level of seriousness. So much adults. So much meetings. I didn’t even rolled with my age mates.
“So this project [‘HeIs’], I just want to be a child. And it’s coming out. It’s not me forcing it out. It just sparked in my spirit. I just want to feel young again. I just to be a rebel. You know, kids make mistakes and it’s acceptable. But when you’re a teenager and you make the same mistake your peers would make, everyone will come for you just because you’re in the spotlight.

Veteran Nollywood actress, Ngozi Nwosu, has stated that infidelity is not enough reason for a woman to walk out of a marriage or relationship.
Nwosu, in an interview with her junior colleague, Biola Adebayo, on her YouTube show, ‘Talk to B’, opened up about her regret in choosing her career over marriage.
The movie star also recounted cancelling her wedding with her former partner over battery.
According to Ngozi Nwosu, her ex was physically assaulting her even while she was pregnant, and she decided to call off their wedding two days before the event.
She stated that when a man cheats, it is not enough to end the relationship but when he is abusive, a woman should leave.
She said, “I had to choose between my profession and to marry a guy, and I chose my job. He gave me an option, and I chose my job.
“At one point, I regretted that decision, but after that, I was like, ‘Oh wow, thank God I chose my path’.
“I didn’t talk about it to the press; this is the first time I am saying it. I left him because of the battery. For me, infidelity, yes, but it isn’t enough for you to let go of your man. Nigerians should look beyond the present pains caused by his administration’s policies and aim at the larger picture, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has said.

President Tinubu, whose economic policies got the support of the United States and the United Kingdom, expressed confidence that Nigeria will emerge from the current turbulence and enter a new era of prosperity.
Urging citizens to have faith in his vision, he said: “Fellow Nigerians, this period may be hard on us and there’s no doubt that it’s tough on us, but I urge you all to look beyond the present temporary pains and aim at the larger picture.
“All our good and helpful plans are in the works. More importantly, I know that they will work.
“Sadly, there was an unavoidable lag between subsidy removal and these plans coming fully online.
“However, we are swiftly closing the time gap. I plead with you, please have faith in our ability to deliver and in our concern for your wellbeing.
“We will get out of this turbulence and due to the measures we have taken, Nigeria will be better equipped and able to take advantage of the future that awaits her.”
The British and the United States governments said the Tinubu Administration’s policies were essential to Nigeria’s economic sustenance and prosperity.
They urged the government to continue on the part of dialogue in addressing the issues raised by protesters.
British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Richard Montgomery, and his US counterpart, Richard Mills, commended the security agencies for avoiding lethal force in quelling the protest.
The duo spoke in Abuja during the briefing of the Diplomatic Corps by Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar.
Montgomery said: “We have a lot of empathy for people facing significant hardship.
“The level of inflation is significant, and I would endorse my colleagues’ question and interest in the dialogue and the peacebuilding that needs to continue in Nigeria given the hardship people face.

Mills also expressed his sympathy for those who have suffered from the protest, adding that the reforms were necessary and had the U.S. backing.

Ganduje: days of turbulence will soon pass
Also yesterday, All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, said President Tinubu and his team were working hard to turn things around.
He spoke when a five-man delegation from APC USA visited him at the national secretariat.
Ganduje stressed that certain reforms come with temporary difficulties.
“Even the so-called developed economies have their turbulence in one way or the other.
“So, it’s not surprising that Nigeria is having its share of the problem. This is not the first time.
“Whenever there is a reform agenda, obstacles must be on the way. As a result, people must suffer in one way or the other.
“But, in the long run, everything will be according to the plan.”
“We are aware that President Tinubu came in to introduce reforms.
“Unless you have strong institutions, you will find it difficult to implement whatever good policies you have.
“The President is working very hard on the economy and very soon we will see positive results.”
